Getting a PhD in cancer biology may not seem like a step towards becoming an astronaut, but for Kate Rubins, it turned out to be a step in the right direction. In this "Moment with Kate Rubins" video, Rubins shares her story behind her passion for viruses and her unconventional educational path to becoming a NASA astronaut. As a kid, Kate says she wanted to be an astronaut, a biologist, and a geologist. She thought you could do all of those three careers at the same time. Maybe not all but she has done two! Kate's passion for science led her to a successful career pathway.
